Surprise Your Valentine With Flowers

By Joanne Michaels

With Valentine's Day within sight, it's time to consider sending that grand expression of love to that outstanding person in your life. Whether you're a male or female, let's take a look at some ideas about Valentines flowers.

Here's an interesting question: Do women send Valentines flowers? Yes they do! Women send masculine gifts like nuts and munchy things. Instead of sending a full bouquet of flowers, as a man normally sends, they might include a single rose in a little basket with nuts and chocolates and fudges. That has become highly popular, so most florists have spanned out in that direction.

What would you consider to be the most in-demand Valentines flower? The red rose is by far the most favored, because it's the symbol of love. Some people feel that if you wish to communicate deep love to your Valentine, a red rose is the only flower to send.

If you want to send something to a casual friend, a yellow rose imparts friendship. It's a warm, sweet gesture that sends a less passionate message than red. To convey the feeling of desire, select pink. It conveys a soft, compassionate feeling, and is probably more appropriate for someone that is a little more familiar than just a casual friend. A pink rose will warm her heart and awaken that gentle desire within her.

Of course, roses are not the only type of flower that is given for Valentine's Day. Also very well-received are mixed vases. A florist can make up a beautiful arrangement with daisies, tulips, chrysanthemums, orchids, and other flowers. Just as long as it looks pleasing and communicates a romantic, loving sentiment. Lilies are another type of flower that are very popular, because they are remarkably scented and smell wonderful.

Even another idea would be to send a live plant instead of cut flowers. There are several to choose from, including little mini rose plants. What a beautiful way to express your love to your Valentine by sending a present that lasts!

What is the cost of sending flowers for Valentine's Day? You can spend around $15 as a starting cost, while the average price settles in around $40, which will purchase a beautiful half dozen roses or a mixed vase. Add delivery charges to these prices. If money is tight, consider a cash and carry purchase. You can purchase a dozen roses for roughly $20 to $30, then add all kinds of fillers. There are lots of really fabulous greens that you can use to make your arrangement look fantastic. Arrange them in an appealing vase, and it will look awesome. It's not going to be arranged like a professional does, but it will look gorgeous. It's a good way to go if you're on a stringent budget.

However, if cost is not an issue, and you don't mind spending considerably more, you can pay up to $150 or more.

You may be tempted to save a little money by purchasing your Valentines flowers at a local discount store, but be forewarned. A live flower purchased at a local discount store will understandably cost less, but the quality of the flower will not be equal to one from a florist. The flower will not be as healthy, and as a result, will not last as long. It pays to spend the extra for good quality.

What is the most loving thing you can do to express your love to that incredible Valentine in your life? Send flowers, of course! Surprise her (or him) with a superb bouquet of flowers!

Internet Dating Scams: Some Advice For Men

By Jayde Johanssen

If you are thinking of joining a dating website, you may be a bit overwhelmed by the number of sites which are out there. Where do you start? Its a good question, many websites attract scammers, people who are more interested in fleecing you of your hard earned cash rather than meeting you and starting a relationship. This issue is especially prevalent at adult dating sites. So how do you protect yourself?

The problem is that some women are not actually signed up to these websites to meet you in real life. Rather, they are looking to meet you online so they can get you to sign up to their own website, which is a paid site requiring you to spend money to continue your asociation with them. These women are always attractive, they are always tempting, and they are always convincing.

This scam is simplicity in itself. It works so well most men do not even understand they've been scammed. How it works is that you'll join a dating site, pay your membership fee and contact a bunch of women you thought looked interesting. These drop dead gorgeous women will get back to you, there will be a bit of too-ing and fro-ing and then they'll ask you to meet them at another website, their personal website.

If you are interested in this woman you will probably follow her instructions andfollow her to the site, which is another membership website. You'll need to join up to this one to find the woman you were speaking to. This one will have all manner of great feature, interactive webchat etc, all of which you can use once you hand over your credit card.

So you spend your money and all of a sudden you'll be introduced to a new world of webcams, where you can chat to a range of very attractive girls in various stages of undress. This will all be pay per view though, so each time you talk to one of these girls, you'll be paying for it.

A month down the track you will get another charge from the original dating site, the renewal for the first one you joined. At this moment in time, you'll realise you haven't even been using the original site. All you've been doing is webcamming. You'll also realise you haven't met a single girl in real life.

Further you will realise that you have spent way more than you budgetted as you will have paid them to talk to you on their webcams. And finally (and hopefully by now) you'll realise these girls never actually want to meet you. So its all lost time and money.

This type of thing happens at most Adult Dating Sites. However, the extent of this problem varies greatly from site to site. That is why our number 1 tip for avoiding this issue is to investigate a few sites before you join them. Only join reputable sites where this problem is less prevalent.

Also, remember the purpose your dating site is supposed to serve. Its supposed to give you the opportunity to meet people you otherwise would not have been able to. Thats all, nothing else. A dating site is not supposed to have a life of its own.

Once that is done, the website's job is over. From here, you are supposed to correspond, exchange numbers, chat and then meet in the real world. So once you have met someone and started corresponding, what possible purpose is there to joining another site? You have met her already!

Our final tip is to only join 1 of these websites at a time. Give it a try, and if you are not meeting your share of real women within 1 - 2 months, women who want to develop something beyond the internet, leave this website and join another. Give the new one a similar trial. Same thing goes, if you are not getting a response from real women here, try the third.

If you have tried a few dating sites though and continue to not attract real people, we suggest you stop changing sites and rather look at your internet manner. Setting up a great profile that attracts women and progressing communication to a real life date is a skill. Its something you can research and learn. As always, when things don't go right at the start, don't give up. Research, learn from your mistakes and do it better.

The City of Roses

By James Gilbert Pynn

With the proliferation of beautiful towns in Southern California, its easy to see why so many people pulled up stakes and went west. It is easy to see why so many settlers and immigrants eventually settled down in sunny Pasadena. The city as we know it today was born, in essence, when Benjamin Wilson became the first Anglo settler in the region in 1841. Wilson would later become the mayor of Los Angeles and a California senator. But is Wilson was the seed, Dr. Daniel M. Berry as the water that would grow this City of Roses.

In search of a miracle, Dr. Daniel M. Berry came to the Arroyo Seco. An asthmatic, Berry had been looking for a suitable place to relocate his loyal group of similarly asthmatic patients. He would characterize his sojourn to the area by say, It was the best three nights of sleep in my life. Eager to keep the area a secret, he created the Southern California Orange Grove Association and began to sell shares for a massive 4,000 aces bid. In 1874, the Indiana Colony was born. Pasadena would soon follow.

Within a decade, the colonys warm reputation slowly drew settlers from the East. Soon, especially in the years prior to the Great Depression, Pasadena had become something of a fashionable winter resort for cold-weary Midwestern and Eastern families. This migration brought with it artists, actors, and scientists. The citys cultural wherewithal began to multiply. In 1917, the famous Pasadena Playhouse opened its doors. The Norton Simon Museum was founded in1922 and the Art Center of College and Design in 1930.

What is now the Old Pasadena Historic District was once the focus of commerce and industry for the entire San Gabriel Valley. Today visitors can marvel at historic facades along the rich and bustling Colorado Boulevard. Another remnant of Pasadenas rich history is the annual Tournament of Roses Parade. First begun in 1890 as a showcase for Southern Californias warm climate, the Parade has been held on new years Day ever since. Though it had been followed by chariot races and teams sports, its first association with football began in 1902 and the "Tournament East-West football game. Though the next game was not played until New Year's Day 1916, it has since been firmly associated with the Rose Bowl.

From the Historic District to Caltech to the Rose Bowl, Pasadena has something for anyone. This rose-shrouded gem continues to draw settlers, students, and artists. Plane, train, or automobile, however you arrive, youre sure to be greeted with broad smiles and immaculate sunshine. Theres a tremendous selection of Pasadena hotels to choose from, and even more restaurants, attractions, sights and sounds. The town Dr. Berry built embraces all comers.
